Hello 2015 and a happy snow dog

Before I begin, I’d like to celebrate the new year with one of my new favourite photos of Jess. I could just squish her! She makes me talk all smushy and high pitched. Oh so much cute.

So hello 2015! My feeling for 2015 so far is simply ‘do what you love’. For me this is mainly aimed at my shop. I spend too much time worrying about what people would want to see in the shop. I know keeping my customers happy is important, but I wasn’t happy with my end results. So far so good though, I’ve created some lovely, detailed items, that I’m really proud of :)

As for the end of 2014, we finally saw a bit of snow! It was good while it lasted, it just didn’t last very long! But I managed to have some fun with Oscar as I was home at the time. He’s a typical retriever and loves footballs, won’t go out without one. Here we are in the garden…

Notice how the video fades out at the end? That’s not some fancy editing, that’s my phone freezing up in the cold! It’s all better now, but it meant I couldn’t get any more photos! I managed to get this one on our car journey back to Lincoln though…

Maybe we’ll see a bit more before the spring comes!

Ultimate snow day

We’re still waitin’ on snow here in Lincolnshire, and as I’m feeling festive I’ve been looking back at photos from our ultimate snow day! It was back in March last year, and I was visiting home when the snow came. These photos were taken in my dad’s garden with his black Lab Oscar :) It was probably the deepest snow I’ve seen, so we couldn’t stay out in it too long, especially with the dog, but it was still long enough!

Swimming aka Labrador heaven!

I had the pleasure of walking at Cowm Reservior recently, in my home county of Lancashire! My step-sister and I took Oscar for a good walk n’ swim, which is of course Labrador heaven! Labs being retrievers will fetch pretty much anything, but they work particularly well in water! So here are some photos of our travels:

Oscar’s always in and out of the water, here he is making sure he wasn’t the only one getting wet!

p.s there’s an area in which dogs must be kept on lead, because of these guys!

Hello 2013 & Our Christmas diary

Today is the 1st January, and this is my first DogTailsBlog post of 2013 :) My Christmas was lovely, but just missing one thing… snow! Never mind, it will come soon. Over the festive period I was busy, busy, busy! My family are a little spread out, so I have a bit of travelling to do when it comes to Christmas time. As usual we ate delicious food, watched lots of films and wrapped tons of presents… and of course the animals were more spoilt than the humans!

So my Christmas looked like this…

Oscar insisting on walking down the stream while I walked alongside on the path, whilst visiting my dad!

Although I didn’t spend Christmas Day with Sam at home in Hull, he had lots of fun with everyone here and of course got lots of presents, and even more when I arrived back on New Years Eve Eve :)

So that’s Christmas 2012. I’m still waiting for someone to ask me ‘Oh, what’s your New Years resolution?’. But I don’t have one, and never do. A new year doesn’t have to mean a new you, you can make good things happen any time of year :) In 2012 I got my degree, and started my own business, and now i’m excited to expand on that and watch it grow in 2013 :)

Happy New Year, hope your 2013 is full of wonderfully wet noses & waggy tails!

Meet Alfie and Bea :) Who today are making a guest appearance on DogTailsBlog!

The brother and sister duo are the latest additions at my dads house, and oh they are adorable! Alfie is the very lovely and very stripy kitten on the left :) He is the bigger and braver of the two, and settled in quite quickly. On the right is his tiny little sister Bea, the more delicate and quiet sibling. They moved in around August time, and Oscar couldn’t wait to meet them…

Meeting Alfie…

Being your typical black Lab, Oscar loves splashing around in water on walks, rolling in goodness knows what, eating, well anything, and he never tires of a game of fetch with his football. And although he is heavy and boisterous and has a painfully whipping tail, he has good intentions :) He just wants to make friends! But of course the kittens weren’t as keen to become best buddies with a giant, black, noisy, sniffing, strange smelling…thing!

They were definitely intrigued by him, but poor Oscar just scared them off as soon as his excited tail began thudding up and down on the wooden floorboards when they approached. Then he would just look up at us as if to say ‘But I just want to playyy…pleeease!’

Luckily, this stage didn’t last too long…and now the trio are friends! Hooray! They even sleep together, and Oscar has also downsized and started squeezing himself into the cat bed!

Alfie’s discovered a new toy…

‘I will fit into this bed…’

‘Talk to the paw…’

Watching the world go by…
